Jumis is a deity of fertility and harvest in Latvian mythology. Any two fruit or corn ears on one stem are called a “jumis” and kept as blessing. His sign signifies doubleness – two sides of the whole and the doubling and multiplication of the good. Even though Lithuanians don't have a deity named Jumis, this symbol can be found all over the Baltics since the 5th century and was often used not only on jewelry but also on rooftops.
The Latvian and Baltic ornaments are a crucial part of the Baltic culture and have deep symbolic meanings and can be worn as amulets. Perfect for your jacket, battle vest, bag, or as a collectible.
Each patch comes with a description of the symbol’s meaning and magic protection - wrapped in paper inscribed with Latvian protective travel spell as recorded in Vecmuiža, Jēkabpils district, at the beginning of the 20th century.
