"Laume" is a figure from Latvian and Lithuanian mythology — often described as a witch or nature spirit. Originally, the term referred to ethereal beings capable of bending nature to their will, but over time it came to represent women possessing magical powers.
The illustration captures the essence of these mystical beings, with their loose hair and flowing, untamed garments, symbolizing freedom and connection to nature. The imagery centers on fertility and life energy — milk, the substance most often used in their rituals, represents nourishment, creation, and vitality in Latvian folklore.
