This illustration weaves together elements of nature, Baltic mythology, and ancient traditions of the Midsummer night (Jāņi): the rowan branch and berries, known for their protective properties in Baltic folklore, offer a shield against evil forces; the ferns, said to bloom on the Midsummer night, symbolize the mystical energies that dance through the air during this enchanting time, the bracelets reference actual archaeological finds but central to the artwork is the white grass-snake, a revered figure in Latvian mythology. This creature is the king of all snakes and can grant magic abilities.
